The Meritage Resort Completes $25 Million Renovation in Southern Napa

April 28, 2026

The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa completed a $25 million renovation to its guestrooms and event facilities this month. This investment reflects a strategic shift in the southern Napa Valley hospitality market toward luxury leisure and corporate group travel. Managing Director Joe Leinacker oversaw the project at the property located at 875 Bordeaux Way. The overhaul aims to compete with new high-end developments in St. Helena and the northern reaches of the county.

The renovation included 322 guestrooms and 10 suites in the main resort building. Designers used a color palette of sage green and soft cream to reflect the local vineyard landscape. The project also included a redesign of the 40,000 square feet of meeting and event space. These updates follow the recent debut of Ember & Rye, a steak and seafood concept by chef Richard Blais. The restaurant occupies the space formerly known as Siena.

This development is central to the revitalization of the combined Vista Collina and Meritage campus. The property now features a unified village atmosphere with expanded outdoor seating and improved pedestrian access. The Commons, a central green space, hosts seasonal events and live music for the local community. These amenities support the nine on-site tasting rooms representing local wineries. Featured partners include Trinitas Cellars and the Foley Food & Wine Society.

The Meritage serves as an entry point for visitors arriving from the San Francisco Bay Area via Highway 29. Its location in the southern part of the valley makes it a hub for regional business conferences. The City of Napa relies on the transient occupancy tax generated by large resorts. The Napa Valley Register reported that the resort remains a major employer for the city. Increasing the property appeal helps stabilize local tourism revenue during periods of economic fluctuation.

Related developments in the area include the expansion of the nearby Stanly Ranch. These properties are transforming the Carneros and southern Napa regions into primary destinations rather than transit points. Local business leaders expect these investments to increase average daily room rates across the county. The Meritage continues to operate its spa facilities located within an underground wine cave. These features maintain the property's status as a distinct destination in the North Bay hospitality sector [^1].
